    Eastern Crabs Restaurant is at jalan ampang and here located very far inside and in the very old building and i did not know here have such restaurant. here all seafood is fresh enough and is halal serving. the seafood here is nice especially is the prawn, juicy and the presentation of the food looks great, every fresh sea prawn ,so big portion and the crab also very delicious.

    this whole hot pot which they have big crab flesh inside peel off, prawn, scallop sweet enough and big portion and also some mushroom and carrots inside. really worth dining here and i like the gravy of this hot pot. full of fresh seafood.Eastern Crabs Restaurant is great place to dine in and moreover they have all fresh seafood here. will not let you down with so many choices of the food and experienced chef here

    Eastern Crab is located at Plaza Ampang City @ Ampang (KL). Very old building and i can hardly find any other restaurant here. Easily spotted at the Ground Floor and along the road. Eastern Crab is a Halal Restaurant and here offers mouth watering seafood with Asian fusion cuisines. The restaurant is famous of the crab and the master chef is from Hong Kong and using the best halal ingredients to prepare the scrumptious seafood.I am truly amazed of the chef here with his creativity to think of so many special dish.
    Eastern crab restaurant owner is very humble person. He is very generous in serving delightful and large portion of all the signature food.Nice setup to welcome open rice members and the restaurant owner make a lovely menu list placed on each tables, just like we are having the wedding functions. Comfortable place to dine in for 10 person per tables but here slightly overly cold air conditioning at one side of the tables.Our first menu - Shark’s Fin Soup.Thick hearty broth with all the fresh crab meat,crab roe, and shark fins. Can see the silver shark fin clearly and good to have this with a dash of vinegar and green chillies. Very aromatic braised soup to warm up my stomach.This big bowl of shark fins can cater for 10 people serving, the shark fin is certainly delicious with clear crab roe, i can even find a large pieces of it with the shark fin and crab meat!Next, we have the famous Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper. The chicken wing is very crispy and garnished with deep fried garlic with hot chillies .I find it is a little bit dry for my taste bud. The spices it too much and i prefer the gravy type.This is one of their bestsellers and claim to be the most recommended dish to try on. Apparently, i think this dish is too spicy for me and i need to quench my thirst with a whole glass of water.Steamed Chinese Pomfret is like the typical serving in all Chinese cuisines. This fish is steamed just right and not overly cooked , so that this medium size of the fish is still fresh and the flesh inside is smooth enough. Great to have this dish with a bowl of rice added on with the soy sauce. The signature Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab. In this restaurant they used Sri Lanka Mud Crab that comes in the XXL size.These Gigantic crab’s is covered with almost one whole pound of garlic with lots of spices and hot chilies for that spicy kick. The crab was superb delicious, and i am so addictive for this dish! The flesh is easily peel off and the claw is really big enough!Singapore Spicy Chili Crab is succulent and in Singapore, this dish is very well known. If there is steamed man tau (bun) then it will be great. The thick gravy i love the most to poured onto my hot steaming rice. Extremely appetizing with huge ,fresh and meaty crab! Delicious!No.1 Seafood Hot Pot - The hot serving of the seafood claypot uses big crab meat inside which is peel off, together with the prawn, big sweet scallop and also some vegetables inside.The delectable dish is just nice with the taste not too salty and not spicy. Highly recommend to try this dish and good to be shared with a large group of people. You will be amazed and surprised that so many fresh seafood inside the whole hot pot and started to dig for more!Fresh Mango Cream with Pamelo.Finally, we have our desserts with freshly sliced mango, pamelo and sago. It’s really rich of the mango taste and the mango cream, together with the taste of the pamelo is really blends well.I love the cold serving of the sweet mango and i am still thinking of the taste now. Refreshing desserts!
    Great place for those cravings for good quality of crabs and this is the place to experience yourself!

    Eastern Crab @ Plaza Ampang City @ Ampang (KL). very old buidling but here can find this halal restaurant. here served really many variety of seafood. all with lots of spices, onions and garlic and of course the main ingredients is the chili. i love the salted egg prawn presentation of the food looks like the cheese prawn, every fresh sea prawn and very Delicious. so big portion and the crab also very good. like the bean curd can mix with rice and i even have two bowl of rice together with the complete set of the seafood claypot which they have big crab meat inside peel off, prawn, scallop big portion and also some vegetables inside. really worth dining here with great service and nice environment. price is quite reasonable

Prawns, crabs and even broccoli in it, as you can see from the picture The gravy is good with rice and i really liked how it is served in a claypot. It is more authentic and traditional to preserve the heat of the food. The seafood in this were fresh as well.

    If you’re looking for something light but still very strong in flavor, then this dish would be a good choice. The cubes of bean curd are nicely diced and then stir-fried in the thick savoury Mapo sauce, together with the tender slices of chicken meat alongside some minced chilli padi. The already spicy dish, could be more challenging to your taste bud if you’re not alert enough to distinguish the fiery mini chillies from your dish In fact, the hotness doesn’t come instantly the moment you sink your teeth in it, but rather slowly felt from the stomach till the throat after a while savouring them.     This dish actually looks bit soupy to me and surely good to go with some white rice. The broccoli has been blanched earlier before topped off with the starchy eggy sauce so that the crispness of the fresh vegetables is still retained. Therefore, the green is very crunchy and sweet in the crab-rich sauce, besides pairing well with the chunky bites of fresh crab meats, which is indeed very hassle free for crab lovers!

    The first sip of this refreshing drink actually got me in surprise. It’s not often that we get to taste a good and true Iced Lemon Tea over here. Only later did I know that it’s actually of Hong Kong style whereby the tea powder is actually brought in from the original country itself, before mixing it with some lemon slices. Therefore, the drink is really nice with a pure sensual taste of lemon zest which is truly amazing, not just merely a mixture of tea bag with the citrus fruit only.     I suppose every meal wouldn’t be complete without a dessert to sum it up then So here we have the Fresh Mango Cream with Pamelo, which is equally a signature fare from the metropolitan city of TVB’s drama. In my humble opinion, this dessert has been done real good for it’s neither too creamy nor sweet. All the ingredients like freshly sliced mango, pamelo and sago, have been proportionately added to create a dessert bowl of mango-themed dessert. It’s really mouthwatering, full of mango aroma and we still can finish it off after the many delicious dishes that we have stuffed into our tummy. Guess the dinner has ended on a sweet note nicely and satisfactorily, with each one of us, heading back to home with a big smile Would miss this cutesy corner of the restaurant.......

    这600g重石甲鱼,经过酥炸后铺上阿叁酱汁和伴着洋葱,灯笼椒,番茄和羊角豆。
    干身的阿叁鱼我还是第一次吃呢!!
    味道是还ok啦!只不过觉得味道好像..........出不来。
    怎么说呢??可能是酸度还不够吧!!
    不过味道真的算是ok的!

    那个虾真的好大一只!!比大拇指还要大只!!
    味道很好,浓郁的咸蛋香更让人食指大动....
    可惜!这虾好像有点不新鲜,因为看到头部黑黑的....
    不过虾肉吃起来却是扎实的,不像是不新鲜。
    所以.....Hmmm.....我也被搞糊涂了。
    只能说,除了那黑色头部之外,其他的都ok,尤其是味道。

    这招牌海鲜煲真的一流!
    很多的海鲜料在内,如蟹钳,带子,鱼肉,鱿鱼,豆腐,虾仁等等。
    集几种海鲜于一锅,然后熬煮汤汁,最后勾芡!
    哇塞.....最后那个味道真的很一流,鲜香甜美,真的很好吃,而且老少咸宜!!

    这道豉椒鸡片也是我钟意的一道菜。
    鸡肉片不会炒的干干,而是滑滑嫩嫩的。
    豆豉也不会死咸,而且很香豆豉味。
    豆豉的浓郁、略脆的青红椒和洋葱配上嫩滑鸡肉片,下饭啊!!!

    他们的麻婆豆腐我没吃到花椒(麻辣味来源),
    吃到的是很辣的指天椒!!
    整体来说虽然很辣,但是味道也还是不错的......
    只是....奇怪!有鸡肉吗??怎么感觉好像没吃到鸡肉??

    这港式柠檬茶....嗯!和我们平时喝的很不一样!
    茶的味道..... 我不懂怎么解释!
    后来知道原来是用来台湾普洱茶!!而我们平时喝的通常都是红茶。
    红茶的味道比普洱茶要淡一些,所以这柠檬茶的味道会比较浓郁也比较香!
    柠檬+红茶,柠檬+绿茶,就听得多喝得多。
    柠檬+普洱茶还是头一招!真长见闻、知识了......

    没想到海鲜餐馆竟然还可以吃到杨枝甘露!!
    而且更加没想到的是这里的杨枝甘露比起外面甜品店吃的,有得fight!!
    这杨枝甘露真的很好吃!
    芒果香味十足,相信是采用了新鲜的芒果。
    不过有点特别的地方!其他地方吃的杨枝甘露是看到柚子肉的!
    而这里的就完全看不见,问了问餐馆的人才知道原来他们将柚子都blend进去了。
    嗯!还有重要的一点是它不会太甜!!
    很赞的甜点!!大家真的要试试!!

    Fried Brocolli topped with crab meat- This is another top recommended dish by the chef in the restaurant.
    You can really taste generous amount of the fresh crab meat cooked with Brocolli. The dish is cooked with egg white starch to make the sauce more concentrated with the taste of real crab meat. The brocolli is fresh and big, cooked just well , not undercooke or overcooke.
    I would recommend this as this tasty dish is rich with nutriens , and you can get source of fiber and antioxidants from brocolli. This delectable dish is not too salty or oily, suitable for old folks or kids.

    这道蟹皇鱼翅真的很正!!吃过的人没有一个是不赞的!!
    光看外表,都已经看到满满的蟹肉和鱼翅了!
    还有就是蟹膏!!印象中.....好像没吃过有这么多蟹膏的蟹黄鱼翅呢!!
    总之,每一汤匙都是啖啖肉,真的是很足料!!
    说到味道,真的此菜只应天上有,人间难得几回闻??
    一流!!味道很浓郁很够味,只是这样吃也觉得很好吃!!
    加了浙醋后又别有一番味道,可以说味道也更鲜甜了。
    衷心的推荐这道蟹黄鱼翅给大家!!真的很不错!!不吃真的很可惜!!

    这道椒盐鸡翅和我知道的“椒盐”煮法有很大的出入,
    外表和味道都大不相同。
    不过这里的椒盐鸡翅很特别也好吃。
    鸡翅膀是腌制过后拿去炸至外表酥脆而里面是软的。
    然后撒上了一层葱头、蒜米酥还有辣椒。
    很奇怪!葱头酥和蒜米酥看起来这么的深色!
    原本以为会苦的,怎知道却不会!吃起来很过瘾很好吃!!
    还有人打包了这些葱头蒜米酥回家呢!!
    整体来说,味道是很特别,也好吃。
    只不过,由于全部都是炸过的,所以觉得有点干。

    据我所知,斗底昌鱼要在450g-600g之间的,肉质才是最好最滑的!!
    这间餐馆所提供的刚好就是600g,不大也不小,size刚刚好!!
    而且要清蒸的话,新鲜鱼才是上选,不新鲜的话会有腥味哦!!
    当然,有好的斗底昌鱼没有好厨师也是徒然的...
    清蒸鱼,看起来很简单,其实很考厨艺呢!
    蒸太久,再嫩的鱼都会变“老”.....
    我们这次吃的,鱼蒸得也刚刚好,所以很嫩很滑,而且很新鲜,没腥味。
    不过味道不怎么合我胃口,或者其他的煮法会比较适合我。

    港式避风塘炒蟹是香港有名的菜式,我才第一次吃呢,如果不算那个椒盐鸡翅的话!
    怎么这么说????
    就..............因为味道口感和外表就一模一样啊!!
    唯一不同的就是这个是螃蟹,那个是鸡翅,还有那个是用辣椒,这个是用指天椒!!
    说到螃蟹,这餐馆用的都是斯里兰卡青蟹,还是很大一只(XXL)!!
    肉很多,肉质扎实,又新鲜,很鲜甜美味~~

    新加坡驰名的辣椒蟹,这里也有得吃,但是味道地道没就不知道了,
    因为这也是我第一次吃新加坡辣椒蟹。
    味道和甜酸(sweet & sour)的味道有点像!
    但是酸甜煮法的味道比较着重于酸甜味,就是比较酸比较甜。
    而这辣椒螃蟹是很温和的酸甜还有小辣,应该说吃到辣椒的时候才会很辣吧!
    这样不是太重的酸辣甜味,反而特出了螃蟹的鲜甜。
    总的来说,味道很不错,而且他们给的酱汁也很多,
    除了可以让喜欢酱汁捞饭的人捞饭,还能拿面包或馒头蘸着来吃。
    真的不错!不错!

    Now the much said Singaporean famous Chilly Crab has arrived on the table. This seems to be a wetter version of the previously dished out Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab, for these mud crabs are stir-fried in thick savoury sauce that includes ingredients like red chillies, egg garlic and onion in the sweet and sour gravy. The reddish sauce is very appetizing and it reminds me of the braised dishes that my mom used to cook at home. Anyway, this oceanic pan gravy is actually very good to go with a plate of white rice, and at the same time, enjoying the chunky bites of the crab meat with its enticing roe as well.

This siakap fish is definitely deep-fried to perfection, whereby it’s not too hard but you could still bite into the sweetness and juiciness of the fish meat, with a slight crisp on the outside. The accompanied side ingredients such as tomatoes, lady’s fingers and especially the generous portion of onions in the Asam paste, actually help to enhance the overall taste. Loving it!

    Another of my top pick fare is dishes with salted egg yolk! Loving it dearly! Yea, I know it might be falling far off from the healthy scale, but occasionally wouldn’t hurt right? So long you got your diet balanced These are really huge and fresh sea prawns that have been deep fried earlier before drenched with the creamy salted egg yolk that is very rich and mouthwatering! The prawn meat is really juicy and succulent, looking at its extraordinary size compared to the usual large prawns, making it further more satisfying. Just my two cents, if some basils or curry leaves were added with into the salted egg cream, am pretty sure the already-good aroma would be greatly heightened up

    I trust anyone would be instantly mesmerized the moment it arrives by the presentation of the wondrous collection of the many kinds of seafood in just one pot! The most prominent to the visual are the large crab claws as well as the huge fresh scallops, taking the top spot. Joining them are also succulents bites of squids, prawns, fish fillet, bean curd and also broccoli. They are all braised under moderate flame till just nice, so as not to overcooking it while retaining the fresh seafood taste. Marvellous!

    Joining us next is this menu cooked in the most oriental way. Initially I thought it’s a dish stir-fried in ‘Kung Po’ style, thus, mild hotness is expected. Until I give it a try, it’s actually pretty good with every single ingredient is evenly encased with the fragrance of the pepper and black bean paste. The chicken meat is especially very juicy and tender, where the outer part is felt bit silky, so I guess perhaps some tapioca flour or starch-like powder has been mixed in earlier to smoother the texture of the chicken breast meat, otherwise bit coarser. It’s very aromatic when sautéed together with capsicums, onions and some dried chillies, that also goes really well with a humble bowl of white rice.

    Bean curd or more commonly known as tofu is one of the most simplest food to make, you almost can't go wrong with tofu. In Eastern Crabs, the tofu is cooked in the Mapo style, which is a popular dish by the Sichuan.
    The tofu is cooked with a hint of spicy chili and bean-based sauce, together with fermented black beans and minced chicken meat. Typically, pork meat would be used but Eastern Crabs is actually a halal restaurant.

    Black bean have never been my favourite food, neither have any dish cooked with it. I'm alway skeptical when it comes to food cooked with black beans. But I'm surprised with this dish, "Sautéed Chicken with Pepper & Black Bean Sauce" by Eastern Crabs. It was cooked with plenty of black bean, they certainly didn't stinge on the making the sauce. Even though the black bean taste was pretty strong, I didn't quite mind it.

    If there's any dish which I am surprised with, it would be this Seafood Hot Pot from Eastern Crabs. Because it is called seafood, I expect just a couple of seafood in the dish. But boy, I was amazed with the many types of seafood in it, along with the tofu and brocolli. They had two types of squids (white and the brown sotong), peeled prawns and best part was the crabs. It is de-shelled, so what is left is just the crab meat. Pure crab meat!

    This is a seemingly simple dish, because the fish is just steamed and then soy sauce is poured over the top of the fish. But to steam the fish until it's just nice requires a skill. And not many chefs can master that skill till perfection. So, when this dish was served, I kept in mind to lower my expectation but was mildly suprised when the flesh of the fish was still juicy and nice.

    You'd almost can't go wrong with any fried chicken dishes, it's something so simple to make yet delicious. In Eastern Crabs, the chef took it up one notch with having toppings along with the chicken. The toppings you see here is actually a mix of a deep fried garlic with chillies. Although this dish is called "Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper", there were stronger hints of the fragrant garlic than salt and pepper. The chicken does looks a bit dry and overcooked, which it was a bit. But still it was pretty unique dish.

    beside the famous crab served here in eastern crab restaurant, they also have this another spicy food called the mapo Bean Curd with Chicken Meat & Chili Sauce. i think overall here are more famous of the spicy cuisines and the chef is actually cooking the hong kong style and singaporen style of food. the mapo beancurd is very delicious and do order the rice to go with it. the gravy is very good.

    Creamy broth of superior shark fin soup indeed. The shark fin soup here will be graded A absolutely. Exterior you could find the golden brown colour of superior soup, mouth watering blended with crab meat and sufficient shark fin for your temptation. It taste great, do try with a tinted vinegar. The crab meat is chewable reaching the mouthful, so you could imagine there is a lot of crabs meat in it. Love it

    Giant P.R.A.W.N. !! Yes, hears me right. Large Sea Prawn, Deep fried with Salty Egg Yolk. Just look at it will make you want to take a few, Especially when its garnish with the creamy egg yolk sauce, you like feel like smooching each and every piece of the prawn. The prawn is fresh and meat is tender and not overcook. It must have been fried with a real good fire, as crunchy outside and inside wasn't overcook. Simply yummy and will be back! ;D

    Sautéed chicken with pepper and black bean sauce. This dish is good to eat with rice, as the taste is on a heavier side. To eat it solely may be a little bit salty. Ingredients were seen to have green pepper, dried chilly, big sweet onion and chicken cut into cubes and slices, and red chilly. This dish is not suitable for children as its very spicy with an amount of pepper. Chicken is well mixed with yummy seasonings.

    Brocolli with crab meat

    This restaurant serve a very generous crab dish, even the broccoli dish has "very enough" crabs meat to give you the oomph.
    Broccoli was steamed and cooked perfectly, with the creamy broth, its a healthy and nutritious dish that goes along with rice or on its own. Not salty and there is eggs in the broth too that makes its smooth texture.

    Steam Promfret. ;)

    Steam promfret, owner use the ideal size of promfret to steam, and the meat is tender and not hard, shows that it is not overcook. Garnish with spring onion and the soy sauce use is the highlight to make it nice in taste. sweet and not too salty. The fish is fresh and do not have fishy smell and even though its cold after awhile, you still am good eating the stomach part. Great!

    This seemingly ubiquitous Chinese tea is set to blow your mind even just after one sip. Its lingering subtle aftertaste actually leaves us guessing what kind of tea leaves is used. From the usual Tin Guan Yin till pandan leaves are our wild guesses till we found out from the boss that it is of Taiwan Pu Er eventually. It gives out some mild floral taste that actually tickles your taste bud slowly into believing that the tea is made of several concoctions.     We are instantly awed at the sight of this majestic dish of the huge mollusc from Sri Lanka. As tempting as the XXL mud crab looks like, it is also bit intimidating to non-spicy foodie like me. But who cares, as a great adventurous epicurean, an ever trying spirit is a must, thus courage is a must So without any hesitation, sank my teeth into it and there you go, enjoyed it soulfully. The crabs are fried with sufficient ‘wok hei’ till the shell is easily cracked open using the utensils provided.This is actually their signature dish that is stir-fried in Hong Kong style by their experienced chef, with bountiful minced fried garlic, shallots, dried shrimps, shredded scallops and chilli padi to lend some fiery kick to the crab. I really enjoy the crab very much for its big and chucky meat that is not frequently seen in the local produce. Phew, you better be prepared with a glass of water to cool you down later

    Reasonably thick superior broth consistency ladened with crab meat, crab roe, silvers of sharks fin and egg drop. A good starter with decent taste and freshness to warm up the tummy.Sautéed Chicken with Pepper & Black Bean Sauce

    Overall it had a balanced flavour of savouriness from soy sauce and black bean. Chicken slices were easily consumed since it is in bite sized pieces, with tender texture as well. Onions, green and red peppers definitely gave extra good crunch and source of fibre.

    Similar to Kam Heong sauce but with slight sourish twist. Freshness of the fish is average, paired well with the Asam sauce. A dish full of appetizing flavour, good to go with a bowl of steamed rice.

    Fish meat had adequate freshness with tender meat texture. Complemented well with soy sauce which provides savoury taste with a hint of sweetness that it should have.

    Chicken wings were reasonably tender but not crispy enough. The brown separated flakes resembles oat texture, which is rather soft, lacking in crispiness and too spicy.Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab

    Generous amount of grainy particles containing garlic, onions and red chilli padi. The crab meat was rather dissapointing as some of the texture was too soft and lacked freshness, but some were acceptable in terms of freshness. Perhaps the mixture of brown particles seems to cover the natural taste of crabs.

    Singapore Chilli Crab

    Sri Lankan crabs were chosen in this dish, which are quite fresh but the soft texture appears to be a concern. Drenched in thick spicy gravy which has hint of tomato flavour, it is spicier than the crab dish mentioned previously, richer in flavours. This deserves to be paired with toasted bread, given the flavourful sauce would complement well with plain crispy bread.

    Contains good spread of seafood items such as crab claws, squid, scallops, fish, prawns and beancurd. All of the seafood were very fresh, further enhanced by the starchy flavourul sauce that infuses the goodness of seafood. Another well cooked dish that most of us like it very much.

    A spicy dish due to the addition of red chilli padi, which I expected dried chillies to be used initially. A decent tasting dish with a more apprent soy sauce flavour.Fried Broccoli topped with Crab Meat

    Fresh broccoli doused which starchy sauce containing fresh small pieces of crab meat, a comforting and homey dish indeed. I like that the broccolis are not overcooked, retaining adequate crunch, sweetness and bright green colour. The size of broccoli could be bigger to enhance overall appearance of the dish.

    这是一家以螃蟹为主的餐厅。当然对一些不太能吃海鲜的朋友,来到这里如果没有口福可以享用新鲜的海鲜大餐,这里还是有几道美味佳肴可以品尝一下。这是我喜欢的Mapo bean curd with chicken meat and chilli sauce,也就是香辣麻婆豆腐炒鸡肉碎和辣椒。对于一些不太能吃辣的朋友或许这道菜就可能会让你失望。整体上味道是不错的,但是少了一点酸。我比较偏爱带有酸味的麻辣豆腐,就是不止吃到辣味,还可以有咸,香,酸的味道。这是sauteed chicken with pepper& black bean sauce. 因为有很重的胡椒味,所以味道会偏辣。但是这鸡还是炒得很香。和灯笼椒,洋葱炒上酱油,非常香的一道菜。来到这里,另外一样不可错过的佳肴,可是这里的第一砂煲海鲜。Eastern special seafood no1. hotpot. 参杂了所有的山珍海味,然后焖在一个锅子里,热乎乎的端上,无人能抗拒啊! 其中的海味还包括 鲜蟹肉,鱼肉,苏东,带子等等。味道很鲜,咸中带甜,可以尝试一下。在晚餐结束以前,不妨来个简单又凉爽的甜点吧。这是fresh mango with pamelo.甘露芒果汁。厨师很贴心的选购了偏酸味的柚子,让大家吃了这么多海鲜后解解腻味。然后把新鲜的芒果和柚子搅拌在一起,配上sago, 完成一道酸甜的甜品。只是厨师采用的sago与我们平时吃的不一般,缺乏那种透明sagu的嚼劲。
    这家餐厅里面还设置了一个布满类似time, personal money, time out的杂志。天啊,这些杂志都是我最爱看的!所以在等待厨师为你准备佳肴时,可以随便翻阅。值得体验一家美食餐厅。

    Goodness in Steamed Chinese Pomfret in Soy Sauce

    Pomfret & Siakap are mainly the 2 types of fish served in Eastern Crabs Restaurant. You can choose between 4 types of cooking styles to suit your taste & preferences. There are the steamed or deep fried in soya sauce, asam paste (sour & spicy) or the sweet & sour style. My personal favourite is of course, the steamed version in soya sauce because it's simply healthy and delicious.
    Steamed Pomfret is almost a favourite for most Chinese home cooking to celebrate an occasion or during festival especially during the Lunar Chinese New Year. This steamed fish is a favourite dish with my family and it goes very well with white rice, or on its own. It is also considered one of the most expensive fish. Because of its high profile, naturally, the best way to serve it is by steaming – using the least amount of ingredients and seasoning possible.
    This fish tasted best when it is served right after cooking. The chef did a excellent job to rid of the fishy smell and it was not overcooked or over steamed that will spoil the texture of the fish meat. It was nicely cooked and smeared with salt and soy sauce inside out and garnished with shredded spring onions. I love the flaky meat as this is how a fresh tasty pomfret should be. The size of the fish served is around 600 gm which I think is of the right weight & size to deliver the 'sweetness' of this simple dish.
    Although the price of RM 63 per fish is kind of pricey but if you are a fan of steamed fish & is a lousy cook yourself (believe me, fish steaming requires special skill + precise timing), you should give this dish a try!

    Sinful Deep Fried Large Sea Prawn - Salty Egg Yolk

    OMG, the salted egg yolk is my love! When it comes to salted egg yolk in Chinese dishes, the most obvious choice is the partnering of prawn with this sinful duck egg. And the favourite way to cook it is either with butter or kam heong style. The size of the prawns served in this dish was really large, each weighing around 80 grams. It costs RM 26 per dish for 2 pieces of prawns ... on which I think the price was pretty decent to pay for such big prawns.The deep fried prawns itself was very delicious and aromatic. The meat was so fresh and firm, deep fried to perfection. Together with generous serving of the salted egg yolks gravy it was a perfect combination. As everyone practically licked the plate clean, it was truly an appetizing 'Har-Har' dish that whet one's appetite that night. (happy; Har is prawn in Cantonese)
    So, don't forget to order this awesome & tasty but sinful dish as I called it when you're looking for some special happy dish to cheer up!

    The hot pot is a great creation by the Chinese and it's extremely favoured in winter as hot pot is an ideal choice for a warm family gathering or a party. There are many kinds of hot pot in different regions of China; there are the spicy szechuan style, Korean kimchi soup based & many more. Various food materials are placed into the pot, including sliced mutton, beef, chicken, leafy vegetables, mushrooms, glass noodles, frozen bean curd, and seafood. The Eastern Special Seafood No.1 Hot Pot is the Guangdong style hot pot that features fresh and expensive seafood. It cooked and served in clay pot. This clay pot dish was practically loaded with chunky pieces of fresh crab meat, shrimp, scallop, fish fillet, mussel, taufoo, broccoli which tasted so delicious. The savoury gravy goes well with rice, it's an excellent choice that will win the stamp of approval for any seafood lovers. Price for a standard pot is RM 32 & a large pot comes to around RM 40 ... which I think it's really value for money, judging from the generous serving of fresh seafood in this clay pot dish.

    Simple & Good - Mapo Beancurd with Chicken Meat

    This Mapo Bean curd dish is most family’s favourite home cooked dishes that one can never get bored of. Besides, this dish is really good with a bowl of warm fluffy white rice, topped it over with the savoury gravy. The dish I tried at this restaurant was slightly different as it was cooked with minced chicken meat instead of the usual minced pork, I find it less appealing both in taste and flavour. Although black beans, tauchu, chillies and garlic being the main ingredients that was used to cook this dish, it just did not turn out as good as the pork version. By the way, price was reasonable as a Standard serving - RM 11.50 & Large - RM 19.00.
    Well, I guess the owner, Mr. Foo got to improvise on the choice of meat to use as this is strictly a halal restaurant. Believe me, I think he is doing a great job by putting in a lot of effort into introducing authentic Chinese home cooked food to the restaurant's Muslim patrons. Last but not least, if you have some Muslim friends wanting to try some homely, simple and good dishes, Eastern Crabs Restaurant is certainly a good place to dine and entertain your Muslim buddies !

    Looks can be deceiving. When this dish was served at the dinner table, it did not look very appetizing at all. It was probably because there were not much gravy or sauce that accompanied the fish.
    I have eaten siakap mostly the Teochew style steamed version and also steamed assam version but never as a fried version.
    Upon tasting the sauce, my perception of the dish has changed. The bell pepper, onion and ladies finger were very crisp (did not over cook) goes very well with the special assam sauce. The fish was crunchy from the outside and the flesh was tender (and most important it does not have the muddy taste of some siakap). Best eaten with plain white rice.

    This is a nice dessert to finish off any meals.
    It is a creamy chilled delight that comes with freshly cut mangoes and sago. It was just the perfect concoction to end my heavy crab meal that I had.
    It was a perfect balance with the right sweetness. The only little flaw was that the type of sago used were not the chewy one, the type that was usually used for this type of dessert. Instead they used a powdery type that tasted like rice cereal. After failing to find any traces of pomelo, we asked the captain where were the pomeloes. He explained the the pomelo have been blended together with the mangoes. RM 8.20 per bowl - Rating 3 of 5For the finale, we were served with the Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea. The pleasant smelling of the lemon makes a nice end to a rich meal. The fragrant of the tea was very strong and blended extremely well with the ice and lemon. Most places that I have tried this drink were either too bland or too sourish in taste. This drink will set as the new benchmark for me as far as Ice Lemon Tea goes. Price RM6.50 Rating 4 of 5

    The Shark Fin soup is a famous cuisine, popular soup of Chinese cuisine and is usually served at special occasions such as weddings and banquets. As such, I felt very fortunate and honoured being given the privileged to sample this special dish at Eastern Crab Restaurant.
    The Crab Meat Shark Fin In Superior Broth served here was certainly hearty and delicious. This supreme soup was cooked using the best of ingredients like fresh crab meat, crab roe and shark fin with the chef's special superior broth. In shark fin soup, the fins themselves are virtually tasteless. The taste comes from the soup, while the fins are valued for their texture.
    I savoured every single scoop of this seductive blend of soup. The generous serving of shark fin was chewy, sinewy, stringy in texture, nice combination of crab meat with the crab roe go perfectly with each other thus enhances the taste of the broth resulting into a perfect delicacy.     Ta-da, Eastern Crabs Restaurant! So, I thought I'd post how the entrance looks like to give you an idea of where to look for it.
    Since food is the primary concern of everyone reading this review, I'll begin on the dishes then. Well, as usual, I wouldn't be posting every single food I tasted because that's just how I love doing reviews.     To be honest, the first thing that crossed my mind was that there was too much garlic in this. The smell is a too strong, so to those who prefer your crabs with a milder aroma, forget about trying this.     The prawns were succulent and juicy at the same time. I think this was prepared well and probably, this could be the best fried prawn with egg yolk I've ever tasted.     It's been some time since I last tasted mango dessert that was so good. This had little sago balls in it, but it wasn't your regular chewy ones. The ones in this kind of tasted like rice. Despite that, I thought it was extremely delicious. The mango was fresh and even until today, I still feel like eating it every now and then. That rarely happens, because when I start craving for certain dishes, it's usually because it's really yummy!
    I think I might just return one day and order a whole bowl of the mango cream dessert, all to myself

    here serving fresh and delicious seafood, they have the combination of the hong kong style and singapore style cooking and here is all halal.We tried 2 seafood dishes, one being a deliciously finger licking Sri lanka Chilly Crab and the other is steamed fish.both are good to go with rice and the taste is palatable. i like the food here. very delicious and uses really big crab. the shark fin taste good with added on some vinegar and i like the spices of the crab. i think i have more then two bowls of the rice for my dinner.Singapore Chili CrabShark Fin Crab Steamed Fish ice lemon tea overall i really enjoy the dinner. thanks to open rice for inviting

    Eastern Crabs Restaurant is a seafood restaurant that specialises in Hong Kong seafood cuisine, serving the freshest & quality seafood to its customers. They are proud to have their own Hong Kong Masterchef to dish out mouthwatering cuisines & speciality dishes. During our recent 'Makan Ventures', Mr. Foo ( the business partner) recommended a few popular dishes, including Singapore Chilli Crab, Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab, Deep Fried Chicken Wings and Fried Broccoli with Crab Meat. If you love seafood, this eatery in Ampang is definitely worth a visit. They offer a wide array of authentic seafood dishes, rice, noodles, western food, vegetables, soup & many more. One of their bestsellers & my personal favorite is the Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper. Honestly, this is the one dish which I can never have enough as I love fried chicken wings in any style. It's well seasoned & marinated, you can taste the favouring not only on the skin but also within the juicy meat of the chicken wings. Fried to perfection, not too dry ... smell good, taste good with strong garlic flavouring. An excellent hors d'oeuvre The Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab dish comes highly recommended for its house specialty. The type of crabs served are the Sri Lanka Mud Crab that comes in the XXL size. The price per crab is RM 55.00. These crabs are fried & serve with generous amount of crispy plus fragrant garlic & chillie as topping. It's fresh & tasty ... a must-try dish for crab lovers!

    Crablicious Meal In Ampang

    Mention about eating crabs, the first place that comes to mind would be in Klang or Port Klang, not anymore, there is a little restaurant that serves big juicy Sri Lanka Mud Crab right in Ampang.
    I had the priviledge to sample an all crab dishes at Eastern Crab Restaurant.
    First on the menu was the Crab Meat With Shark's Fin Soup in Superior Broth. Once the soup was laden on the table, the first thing that I noticed was the generous quantity of Shark Fin topping. I loved my shark fin soup with a dash of vinegar and peserved green chillies. I would say the freshnest of the crab meat took me by surprise as most other restaurants would serve frozen crab meat. You can easily see there are crab roe that accompany the soup too. Overall the soup was a good start for this meal. Rating 4 / 5. Price per bowl - RM19.50Next, comes the main course which is Singapore Chilli Crab. In Kuala Lumpur there aren't many restaurant that serves this dish. I remembered the last time I savoured this dish was in Singapore itself. My Singaporean friend brought me and my family to the iconic restaurant [email protected] that claims to serves the best in Singapore. Upon tasting, I was taken aback on how a Hong Kong trained chef could come so close to cooking this dish that can rivalled one of the best in Singapore. Best eaten with either Fried man tou or bread toast. Rating 4 / 5. Price per crab - RM55.00The third crab dish we relished for the night was the Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab. I have eaten crab in many cooking styles but never tried this before. When the dish came, I could see the overwhelming serving of garlic and shallot accompanied with the fried crab. I find the crab a bit tad too dry for my liking as I would prefer crabs served in gravey version. Rating 2 / 5. Price per crab - RM55.00The last crab dish was Fried Broccoli Topped With Crab Meat. I found this dish very refreshing after some rich crab dishes earlier. The Broccoli was very savoury. As again the crab meat used here was very fresh and it surely was the perfect combination. Rating 3 / 5. Standard serving RM17.00 Large - RM25.50Although I felt a little guilty of the amount of cholesterol count for this entire meal, nevertheless the feeling of the hearty crab dishes surpasses it.
    If you are craving for Crab dishes and does not want to travel great length to savour it, then gives this restaurant a try, you will never know what you are missing.

    Eastern Special Seafood No.1 Hot Pot

    在这也是品赏过这道菜,说实话,瓦煲里面的所有配料也蛮适合大人和小孩,所谓的海鲜,不只是一定要吃大螃蟹或是大虾才是为海鲜,而瓦煲里面的都是方便而不须要弄脏手的海鲜,味道很好,大家可以考虑 standard @Rm32 / Large @Rm40

    [1]这一碟著名的港式避风塘炒螃蟹果然是名不虚传的招牌菜,它采用新鲜螃蟹,用蒜,辣椒和多种调味料爆炒,蟹肉与配料同时入口,美味的让人回味无穷,满足味蕾,超赞,实至名归,值得五粒星。
    [2]辣椒螃蟹是新加坡名菜,它的味道酸甜,甜中带辣,蟹肉新鲜多汁,它的酱汁配上馒头不失为一道名菜。
    [3]这碟采用辣椒,炸葱,蒜和其它配料来炒的鸡翅膀,味道香浓脆口,让人胃口大开,欲罢不能,值得一赞。
    [4]蟹肉鱼翅真是人间极品,没偿过这么好吃的鱼翅,并不像一般酒楼的味道,上汤清甜,偿过就知道是采用上等食材,不能错过。
    [5]泰国酸辣石甲鱼炒杂菜,带有浓浓泰国风味,味道挺好,建议配上饭更好吃。
    [6]咸蛋盐焗虾味道一般,但是胜在卖相挺讨好。
    [7]芒果沙谷米配上打碎的柚子汁,喝下去让人感觉清凉顺口,还带有奶油芳香味。
    [8]香港冻柠茶,喝了下去解渴万分,茶味十足,与众不同。

    港市避風塘香脆螃蟹,新加坡螃蟹炒辣椒,花椰菜与蟹柳汁等等,各式各样化的螃蟹大餐,都可以在这里找到。而这里,就是位于ampang地带的Eastern crabs restaurant. 和我一样热爱螃蟹的好食者,何必大老远的跨国去品尝这些道地美食呢?这里就有个不错的地方,让你一次过品尝各式各样的螃蟹饕餮大餐.这是厨师特推荐的港市避風塘香脆螃蟹 (Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab)。以前我到香港的时候,看见一只只的螃蟹被绑着锁在柜子里,让人选购然后大厨师当场就大显身手一番,让我们品尝非常新鲜的螃蟹大餐。没想到这里也可以吃到。这螃蟹的煮法与平常的浆汁螃蟹有点与众不同。厨师把鲜蟹与特制香脆的辣椒和调味料炒得甘脆爽口 ,害我连螃蟹的壳都吞了下去,才惊觉这并不是可以连壳并吞的软壳蟹。只是厨师把螃蟹炒得太香脆了啦!或许有些人不太喜欢这种比较干的螃蟹煮法,但这我想在外面应该很难有机会吃到,所以真的值得尝试一下。如果上面那个香脆的螃蟹,可以试一下这个新加坡螃蟹炒辣椒。Singapore Chilli Crab。厨师把蟹肉的鲜甜都锁在浆汁其中,带点酸,辣,鲜,甜的螃蟹让人看了不禁垂涎三尺。对于重口味的我,这碟鲜美多汁 肉汁四溢的辣椒蟹可是煮得咸甜适中,带点微辣。喜欢口味较淡的朋友可以伴着饭吃。连续尝了几碟的螃蟹大餐后,服务员很贴心的为大家换个新碟子,毕竟大家盘子上都叠满了螃蟹壳。让人不禁期待下一盘美食到底是怎么个滋味?
    然后,厨师端上了芳香四溢, 热乎乎而且还冒烟的清蒸豆浆斗底鱼。Steamed Pomfret in Soy Sauce。 这斗底鱼质嫩爽口 ,而且一点腥味都没有,想必厨师采用的是非常新鲜的鱼。吃了蒸鱼后,接下来是这道比较重口味的酸甜酱煎鱼。 Fried Siakap with Asam (Sour & Spicy) Paste。 喜好偏向酸甜味的人,这道佳肴一定让你大飽口福。这是 非常新鲜的炸虾淋上咸蛋汁。Deep Fried Large Sea Prawns with Salty Egg Yolk。 大虾的头上还有虾膏呢!鲜甜的虾子淋上带点咸香味的浓汁,还有一丝丝的条状形食物来点缀,叫人难以抗拒!本来还以为那一丝丝的点缀是姜丝还是什么的,在好奇之下请来厨师一问,原来是马铃薯!大家都为之感叹,怎么马铃薯可以煮成这个样子!连吃了一连串的美味佳肴后,厨师让服务员为大家端上解渴解膩的冰飲料- 香港柠檬茶。 吃了很多酸辣咸的美食后,喝一喝柠檬茶可以让人解腻。这和平时咖啡厅的柠檬茶不一般,味道较浓厚,然后带点酸。
    这家餐厅虽然坐落于比较偏僻的角落,但是品质方面可是不输阿。
    里面设有冷气,而喜欢在露天饮食的可以坐到餐厅外。虽然装饰没有很堂皇,但是也算是干净。服务不错,而且食物也好吃。喜欢吃螃蟹的朋友,可以来试一试!

    Thinking of crabs? A must head to Eastern Crab!

    Its all about crabs, fit in your tastebud and no longer only nice crabs meal near the sea and need not go to Sabah for big crabs. Eastern Crab restaurant in Ampang has it all. The shop owner, whom is very humble (Mr Foo), has all the generous serving to guest. They have reasonable priced dishes.
    Check out the Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper, Fresh Mango Cream with Pamelo, Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea, Deep Fried Large Sea Prawns with Salty Egg Yolk, Fried Siakap with Asam (Sour & Spicy) Paste, and its famous not to be missed Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab and Singapore Chilli Crab.
    You will opt for "tambah nasi" again and again as these dishes are a perfection with rice. The garnishing for the deep fried has a great onion aroma with garlic blended well with chicken, prawn and crabs. Get some red wine with its Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper, you will be back for more. Cheerios.

    Llooks like another worthwhile discovery at Ampang area, which seems to house quite a lot of gastronomic adventures waiting to be unveiled slowly. The dining experience at Eastern Crab, which bolds itself with the signature XXL Sri Lankan Mud Crab, is definitely an eye-opening indulgence as far as crab menus are concerned. Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll be awed by their bright and comfortable setting, with some colorful balloons as decoration to liven up the atmosphere. It surely also seems like an ideal place for the kiddos when the hyperactiveness of these brothers, catches our attention instantly, with their cutesy smiles too.But of course, these cigars are not for their toys, for sure! The restaurant owner is very thoughtful too, to have prepared a menu card, specially dedicated to Open Rice team, besides the other chromatic embellishments too.     Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Fried Crab - 香港式蒜米辣椒仔蟹 - 味道蛮香,蟹肉加上配料一起享用,螃蟹是用油炸过,有点带干,不过很特别,没吃过的朋友也不妨试一下,说不定也是您的最爱咯。。 Fried Siakap with Asam (Sour & Spicy) Paste - 阿叁酸辣石甲鱼 - 这道菜也是很适合胃口,味道不是很辣,而是带有少甜的感觉,来碗白饭,就是最好不过啦。。! Eastern Special Seafood No.1 Hot Pot (瓦煲海鲜)- 这煲瓦煲海鲜也是很好吃,煲里有鲜带子,豆腐,Sotong和介兰花,也很鲜甜,不辣,也是合适小孩的一道菜。

    Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper - (盐椒炸鸡翅旁)- 味道不错,鸡肉带软皮脆,喜欢喝上两杯和吃炸鸡的朋友,这道也是你们最佳的选择咯。。鸡的配料有放小辣椒,喜欢辣的食物就不要错过啦。!
    大虾看来像是奶油虾,可是这餐馆的是叫Deep Fried Large Sea Prawn with Salty Egg Yolk (咸蛋黄大海虾),味道还好,可是我个人觉得新鲜的大虾当煮熟了之后,虾的壳和脚会带点鲜红色,是不是这些虾放在冰箱有点久了,不过虾肉还好,是否海虾煮熟了之后虾头虾尾和虾脚都是黑色的
