Nothing represents a classic Italian dessert more than Tiramisu. Indulgent and heavenly, Tiramisu is made by dipping Italian Savoiardi cookies, or Ladyfingers, in espresso and layering them with rich, creamy mascarpone filling. Then, it is dusted with cocoa powder and chilled for a few hours in the fridge before it is ready for serving. The following is a quick and easy Tiramisu recipe for Italian dessert enthusiasts out there. Also, this Tiramisu recipe does not require alcohol and raw eggs.

Ingredients

  • 250g Savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers)
  • 200g icing sugar
  • 250g mascarpone cheese
  • 300ml whipping cream
  • 200 espresso coffee
  • 30g Cocoa powder

  • Rectangular container

Tiramisu Recipe

Directions

  • Add the espresso coffee to a cup of boiling water, stir and set aside to cool down.
  • Beat the whipping cream using an electric mixer until it holds stiff peaks.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese and icing sugar and beat again until well combined.
  • Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee (soaked, not soggy) and ensure it holds its shape.
  • Add a little mascarpone mixture in the rectangular container and arrange the ladyfingers on top in a close single layer.
  • Spread the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers evenly and to the sides of the container to cover the edges. Smooth out the mixture on top of the ladyfingers using a spatula.
  • Sprinkle cocoa powder on top of the mascarpone mixture.
  • Repeat steps 4-7 with the remaining half of the ladyfingers.
  • Once done, wrap the Tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 5 hours or ideally overnight.

Quick tips

You can add vanilla extract to the mascarpone mixture to give a more rounded feel and taste to the Tiramisu.
