Orange Cake Recipe

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Grease the loaf pans with a pastry brush and set them aside.
  • Combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder in a medium bowl with a whisk and set it aside.
  • Using the mixer, whisk the eggs and sugar together at high speed until pale and fluffy. At a lower speed, slowly add the oil until it is combined.
  • Next, add the orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract. Continue whisking slowly until well combined.
  • Then, add the flour mixture and continue combining. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pans and bake for 40 – 50 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cover it loosely with aluminium foil if the top of the cake is browning too quickly.
  • Carefully remove the cake from the oven, let it cool on a wire rack, then remove the cake from the loaf pans.

Orange Cake Tips!

Always use fresh orange! And zest the oranges before squeezing them. When making any cake, remember not to overmix – this means you should stop mixing once you can’t see the ingredients you added. An overmixed cake is dense and chewy. Also, remember to store your orange cake in an airtight container. You can refrigerate it for up to 5 days, or you can cling wrap it and freeze it for up to 2 months. It is always best to serve it at room temperature. We hope this orange cake recipe has got your sweet tooth craving some baked goods!
