Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (day old bread is best)
  • 1 large egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8g of butter for each bread slice
  • Optional: cinnamon powder and kaya jam

French Toast Recipe

Directions

  • Beat the egg in a bowl. Add in a pinch of salt and sprinkle some cinnamon powder; mix
  • Over medium-low heat, melt the butter in a pan.
  • Dip the bread into the egg mixture and make sure to coat the bread thoroughly. In the pan, cook your bread until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes per side.
  • Spread kaya jam if using. Slice and serve immediately.

It’s important to remember to not over-soak the bread. While this french toast recipe is milk-free, dipping your bread into the egg mixture for too long can result in a soggy French toast. Also, it’s best to use a large frying pan if you want to cook more than one slice at a time.
