Ingredients
100g all-purpose flour
50g dark cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
180g salted butter
180g fine granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
200ml evaporated milk
Equipment
1 large bowl
1 sifter
1 baking mixer
1 silicone spatula
1 20cm cake tin
1 toothpick or skewer

Directions
With a sifter, sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl.
With an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar together until smooth.
Add in eggs, one at a time. Then, add vanilla essence.
Pour in evaporated milk and flour mixture gradually, continue beating at low speed until the mixture is fully incorporated. Scrape the sides with a silicone spatula.
Pour the batter into a 20cm cake tin lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 45 minutes at 170℃.
Lightly insert a skewer or toothpick into the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
Leave the cake to cool on a wire rack and top with your favourite frosting before eating.
